State and Local Sales Taxes
Taxes that appear in your online order confirmation are automatically calculated based on the applicable state and local sales taxes when your order is placed.
When it comes to taxes in the United States there are two ways in which they are charged: on a destination basis or an origin basis. Major origin-based states include Texas, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Virginia. Most states and Washington, D.C., are destination-based requiring to apply sales tax at the location of the customer.
California uses a hybrid sales tax system that combines both origin-based and destination-based sourcing. The state portion of the sales tax is based on the origin of the sale (where the seller is located), while the local sales taxes are based on the destination (where the buyer takes possession)
Since the taxation of online transactions is continually evolving, Viscata strives to comply with state and local tax laws as they exist currently, and continues to monitor and update its taxation policies as those laws change.
